Please join us for a Charitable Gift Planners of Southwest Florida program with Jeffrey Haskell, J.D., LL.M. and Austen Freeborn of Foundation Source.
With philanthropy on the rise, particularly among younger generations and women wanting to make a positive impact with their resources, it’s helpful for advisors and nonprofit professionals to be well-versed in formal charitable giving and to discuss it regularly with clients and supporters, not just at year-end. Doing so enables advisors to connect with clients on a deeper level and ultimately grow their practices, and allows nonprofit staff to develop a values-based relationship with donors facilitating major investment in the mission.
This presentation will provide an overview of formal giving vehicles as well as an in-depth discussion of donor-advised funds and private foundations, including how they may be used in tandem for greater financial and philanthropic impact. Lastly, as private foundations offer nearly endless giving capabilities, it will shed light on a few of their less well-known strategies: charitable investing, granting directly to individuals (vs. a charity), and donating artwork and collectibles.
Foundation Source is the nation’s leading provider of enterprise-grade solutions for private foundations, donor-advised funds and planned giving.
Learning Objectives:
- Understand the most common charitable giving vehicles and how they can be incorporated into financial planning
- Explore donor-advised funds and private foundations with respect to tax treatment, grantmaking, legacy and organizational and investment considerations
- Obtain a closer look at specific giving strategies for private foundations, including charitable investing, granting directly to individuals (vs. a charity), and donating artwork and collectibles
- Discover how charitable giving expertise can enhance philanthropic giving and grow a wealth management practice
